Gutters are generally suggested at locations on your home where water drains off the roof and should be adequate in size and quantity to handle even the heaviest of downpours. The purpose of the gutter system is to divert water that collects on the roof and keep it away from the house and its foundation.

We recommend that once a year the gutters, downspouts, and drainage swales are checked. Particularly after a heavy rain, the water from the roof should disappear into the gutters and flow through the downspouts and the swales. Drainage swales between homes should be sloped so as to allow for the fastest run-off possible away from your home. Any standing water in the swales should disappear within a maximum of 24 hours…even after a heavy rain. Quality gutters can last as long as 20 years. Longer life is possible if the gutters are aluminum with baked on enamel paint and leaf guards are installed. A yearly cleaning with a hose is recommended. Homes with a lot of trees may need more frequent cleaning.
