Here's a checklist to help you begin the process of planning for your new bathroom so that it's not only beautiful, but functional, safe and within your remodeling budget. Once you answer these questions, list as much detail about the bathroom remodeling as possible - from type of flooring to the style of the tub. The more details you are able to give us, the better.

• Is there non-slip flooring throughout the bathroom space?

Shower and Tub

• Is the shower size large enough for comfortable use?
• Are the tub and shower easy to enter and exit?
• Does the shower door swing into the bathroom, not the shower?
• Is safety glass used for the glass on all showers and doors?
• Is the tub equipped with grab bars that make it easy to get in and out?
• Are the towel bars conveniently located?

Fixtures and Electrical Outlets

• Are the fixtures convenient to users?
• Are all the electrical outlets distanced from the tub and sinks?

Water Valves

• Are pressure balanced water control valves used in the shower?
• Are temperature water control valves used in the shower?

Storage and Countertop Space

• Is there adequate storage space for towels?
• Is there adequate countertop space around the sinks?
• Is there a place to store toilet paper and other paper products?
• Is there storage space for shampoo located in the shower?

Ventilation, Lighting and Heat

• Is there adequate ventilation in the room?
• Is task lighting provided at every functional area?
• Is general lighting for the room provided?
• Is the water heater adequate to keep up with increased demand?
